The Information Technology Security Officer (ITSO) post is a challenging and rewarding role that supports the Naval Base Commander (NBC) with the assurance that HMNB Devonport is compliant with the requirements of MOD security policy. Job Description Assist in the delivery of the Cyber Security strategy for HMNB Devonport under the direction and guidance of the overarching framework provided by Navy Command and the Defence Nuclear Security Regulator. Assist in the delivery of a Cyber Security assurance programme to ensure Naval Base IT systems and information are adequately protected by security measures that are proportional and effective. Manage the Information Protection Zone policy at HMNB Devonport in accordance with extant guidance. Monitor the proposed procurement; installation; re-siting; or disposal of Information Systems and Operational Technology in the base and consult with the appropriate authorities at an early stage to ensure security risks are adequately assessed, and risk mitigation measures agreed. Oversee a baseline understanding of all IT and Communications Systems across HMNB Devonport to ensure minimum security requirements are applied as defined by regulation and policy. Provide Information security policy advice to Naval Base personnel through appropriate channels of communication. Oversee the data acquisition and image sanitation process. To undertake planning, outputs and actions to assist the delivery of Defence Nuclear Security Regulators assurance outputs including recommendations and actions within the areas of Information and Cyber Security on the Naval Base. To assist security assurance visits to lodger units and carrying out level 1 assurance.
