Overview
Health and Safety Advisor role at Somerset Passenger Solutions Ltd. You will support the Safety, Health and Environmental Manager to drive continuous performance safety improvements and ensure regulatory compliance, promoting a positive safety culture throughout the organisation.
Note: SPS provides passenger transport for one of Europe’s largest construction projects, Hinkley Point C. We transport thousands of clients daily, operating 24/7 to keep construction on schedule.
Responsibilities
* Provide proactive support and guidance on compliance with statutory Safety, Health and Environmental requirements and company standards.
* Assist in the completion of risk assessments related to Safety, Health and Environmental aspects.
* Collaborate with operational teams to ensure SH&E considerations are integrated at all stages with identified control measures.
* Monitor and audit company activities, offices and work locations; close out corrective actions, open incident reports, and significant site issues.
* Distribute and communicate SH&E information across the organisation.
* Establish an adequate SH&E training programme and encourage a safety culture among employees.
* Raise awareness through toolbox talks and briefings; deliver training where necessary.
* Remain aware of SH&E requirements for the HPC project and ensure fulfilment within the Company.
* Attend relevant SH&E meetings with HPC and report back to the SH&E Manager.
* Ensure the company meets or exceeds all KPIs.
Essential: Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and SH&E systems.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills to advise, train and promote SH&E excellence to staff.
* Ability to drive behavioural culture change programmes across a large, complex, 24/7 operation.
* Excellent time management, prioritisation and deadline management.
* Keen eye for detail and a methodical approach.
* Flexible approach to working hours as this is a 24/7 business.
Desirable
* Desire to progress within the SH&E industry.
* Ability to produce analyst data and performance reports.
* Confident in communicating with senior managers, clients and site personnel.
* Knowledge of the transport industry; NEBOSH Diploma (desirable).
Qualifications / Knowledge
* Driving licence
* NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)
* Professional membership (IOSH)
