Development Chemist – Homecare & FMCG - Thetford
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Development Chemist to join a fast-growing, highly innovative manufacturing business in the FMCG and homecare sector.
This role would suit a hands‑on development chemist with strong formulation experience who enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept through to launch in a fast‑paced commercial environment.
The Role
You will play a key role in driving product innovation and continuous improvement across a varied portfolio of liquid cleaning and homecare products. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, you will support the development, optimisation, and launch of new and existing formulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and reformulate products within the homecare / FMCG sector
* Carry out formulation trials, benchmarking, and performance testing
* Support manufacturing scale‑up and production trials
* Drive cost optimisation and continuous product improvement
* Work closely with Quality, Operations, and Commercial teams
* Ensure products meet relevant regulatory and performance requirements
* Support claims substantiation and technical documentation
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience in formulation or development chemistry
* Background within FMCG, chemicals, detergents, homecare, personal care, cosmetics, or related industries
* Experience developing liquid formulations is highly desirable
* Degree qualified in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
* Strong project management and organisational skills
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally
* Comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
