MDE are supporting a leading Investor and Asset Manager in the energy infrastructure space as they expand their commercial function with the addition of a Quantity Surveyor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-funded, fast-scaling business at the forefront of the energy transition, with a growing portfolio of battery storage and energy infrastructure projects throughout the UK and Europe.
Role
The Quantity Surveyor will play a vital role in providing cost and contract management across multiple energy projects. You will support project teams throughout the entire lifecycle, from pre-contract commercial input and tender analysis through to valuations, change control, and final account settlement. The ideal candidate will bring experience working on EPC, supply chain, and O&M contracts within complex infrastructure or renewable energy environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the procurement and commercial management of EPC and O&M contracts across multiple energy storage projects
* Manage project budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasting from pre-construction through to completion
* Prepare and assess valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
* Monitor contract performance and provide cost reporting and commercial updates to stakeholders
* Identify and manage commercial and contractual risks, ensuring appropriate measures are in place
* Assist in the preparation and administration of contract documents (NEC, JCT, FIDIC, etc.)
* Support the management of variations, claims, and dispute resolution processes
* Maintain contract and commercial compliance documentation and records
* Work closely with legal, finance, and delivery teams to ensure efficient commercial governance
Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying or Commercial role within the energy, infrastructure, or construction sectors
* Solid understanding of cost control, contract administration, and supplier performance monitoring
* Familiarity with NEC, JCT, FIDIC, MF1 or equivalent forms of contract
* Proficient in cost reporting and financial forecasting
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
* Excellent stakeholder communication and negotiation abilities
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field
