OVERVIEW OF THE JOB
The role is vitally important to the residential team structure with responsibility for assisting in the management of the residential provision and commitment to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our international boarding students. You will assist students in their daily lives, providing pastoral care and activity enrichment to improve their residential experience while working with the residential team.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
Ensure the smooth running of the residence, maintaining a friendly, welcome, and happy environment.
Be determined to ensure the College’s students are provided with a positive, purposeful, safe, and fun residential environment that promotes their learning and development.
Work with the Head of Boarding and Residential Life to ensure the College complies with statutory duty of care obligations for under-18 students.
Assist the House Leader in supporting the residential team to ensure that duties are completed in line with the routines of the house such as wake-up calls, regular room checks and patrols, roll-calls, completing necessary paperwork accurately, giving instructions and guidance to the rest of your team.
Ensure a visible presence in the Boarding Houses when on duty, maintaining a safe and positive community in residence through active engagement with students and policy enforcement.
Sleep in accommodation provided by the college after an evening shift to ensure sufficient staffing coverage across the site, taking a work mobile in case the member of staff holding the emergency phone requires assistance.
Take the emergency phone when necessary and respond to call outs as required.
Act as Fire Marshall. Respond to and assist with emergencies such as fire alarms if in the building even when not formally on duty.
Oversee an allocated group of students in a pastoral capacity, holding regular meetings to share information, gather feedback, and foster a strong sense of community and belonging. Gather and provide student feedback to the Head of Boarding and Residential Life
Oversee the development and running of activities and excursions for students of all ages, enhancing the residential experience, fostering social connections, and building a strong sense of community. Guide and support the House Leaders to contribute to this program.
Design and lead on residential initiatives as required by the House Leader and Head of Boarding and Residential Life, such as the Boarding Committee.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge of National Minimum Standards (NMS), Independent Schools’ Statutory Regulations (ISI) and other relevant current child protection legislation.
Experience in and the ability to work with, care for and supervise young people.
Well-developed IT skills.
