We are recruiting a Finance / Accounts Administrator to join a well‑established, medium‑sized architectural practice based in central Birmingham. The business operates across a diverse range of sectors and is supported by an external bookkeeper and accountants, with day‑to‑day finance activities managed in‑house.This role is ideal for someone with previous accounts or finance administration experience who enjoys working in a structured, collaborative environment.

Your new role

Reporting into the finance function, you will support day‑to‑day financial operations, ensuring accurate processing of invoices, payroll support, purchase orders and payment runs.
Key Responsibilities
Invoicing (Accounts Receivable & Payable)
1. Raise and issue customer invoices accurately and on time
2. Process and code supplier invoices, ensuring appropriate approvals
3. Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on payments
4. Liaise with external bookkeepers and accountants as required
Payroll Administration
5. Assist with payroll preparation and processing
6. Maintain accurate employee records and timesheets
Purchase Orders
7. Create and manage purchase orders in line with internal procedures
8. Reconcile purchase orders against supplier invoices
9. Payment Runs
10. Prepare payment runs and verify payment details
11. Ensure correct authorisation and maintain payment records
General Finance Support
12. Reconcile bank statements
13. Assist with month‑end processes and reporting
14. Maintain organised financial records and documentation

What you'll need to succeed

15. Previous experience in an accounts or finance administration role
16. Familiarity with accounting software ( Sage) and Microsoft Excel
17. Strong organisational skills with the ability to managepeting priorities
18. Goodmunication skills and a collaborative approach
19. Willingness to learn new systems (training provided on project management software)
