Role
1. To setup and co-ordinate trials working across several funded projects
2. To conduct research under the supervision of senior colleagues and to contribute to the production of research
3. To undertake risk assessment and monitoring activities
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
4. First degree in relevant subject area
5. MSc in relevant area, or in exceptional circumstances, substantial relevant experience
6. Knowledge of randomised controlled trial methodologies to engage in high quality research
7. Knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies, clinical trial monitoring, research governance and good clinical practice
8. Highly developed communication skills to engage effectively with a wide ranging audience, both orally and in writing, using a range of media
9. Ability to write up research work for publication in high profile journals and engage in public dissemination
10. Competency to conduct individual and collaborative research projects
11. Ability to design and undertake research relevant to the trial including preparation of documentation for ethical, R & D and other relevant approvals
12. Ability to contribute to the management of randomised controlled trials
13. Experience of contributing to the design and analysis of research and coordinating randomised controlled trials
14. Experience of conducting auditing and/or monitoring of trials
15. Experience of writing grant applications, standard operating procedures, trial guidance documents and/or associated forms and having good clinical practice training are desirable

It may become a requirement for anyone successfully appointed to this role to undertake an enhanced DBS check, in order to undertake specific project work. Appointees will be asked to declare any spent convictions at the point at which a project requires an enhanced DBS check. The enhanced DBS check will then be carried out before they undertake work relating to that specific project.
Condition of employment
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. Consequently, all applicants will be asked to declare both unspent and spent convictions on their application form.
Appointment of the successful candidate will be conditional on a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
