Sales Engineer Aftermarket & Proposals

Full-time | Permanent | 37 hours per week (Flexi-time)
Salary: £30,000 £35,000
Talent Media is delighted to be working in partnership with our client, a specialist engineering business operating within the industrial engineering sector.
We are supporting the appointment of a commercially astute Sales Engineer Aftermarket & Proposals to join their growing Sales function.
This is a key role focused on managing RFQs, developing technical proposals and converting opportunities into profitable orders. Youll act as a focal point for customer communication, ensuring aftermarket solutions including parts, retrofit and equipment upgrades align with client requirements and business objectives.
The Opportunity
This position would suit a technically strong, commercially aware sales professional with experience in engineering-led environments. Youll play a central role in evaluating enquiries, preparing competitive tenders and building long-term customer relationships across defined territories.
Youll work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure orders are commercially sound, technically accurate and deliverable within agreed cost and timescales.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate enquiries and prepare detailed quotations and tenders
Liaise with customers regarding new enquiries and revised quotes, working to defined turnaround times
Prepare and present proposals (electronically and occasionally face-to-face)
Develop and maintain strong client relationships to drive repeat and new business
Maximise margin opportunities within agreed parameters
Follow up quotations to improve conversion rates
Review and handover confirmed orders to internal teams
Support annual price reviews and customer agreements
Liaise internally to resolve technical and commercial queries
Provide accurate status reporting to support planning and manufacturing
Identify opportunities for up-selling and business growth
About You
Experience within a technical sales or engineering-led environment
Ability to interpret engineering drawings
Strong commercial awareness and customer focus
Confident communicator with the ability to build credible client relationships
Detail-oriented with a proactive, solutions-led mindset
Comfortable managing multiple enquiries and deadlines
An engineering qualification (HNC or equivalent) or relevant technical background would be advantageous.
Package & Benefits
Salary £30,000 £35,000
37 hours per week
Monday to Friday, 9.00am 5.00pm with flexi-time
27 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays
