Overview
The Haematology Service is looking to employ a full-time consultant. This is an exciting new role that has been agreed to enable expansion of the existing department. The appointee will have joint and shared duties with the 5 existing substantive full-time consultants for Haemato-oncology patients, Pine Therapy Chemotherapy Day Unit, liaison haematology, lab and Blood Bank expert cover and an on-call consultant rota 1:6 (including the post holder).
All consultants are supervising two rotating training Haematology Specialist Registrars, a middle-grade haematology doctor, 3 junior doctors and work along with five specialist haematology nurses and the acute oncology nursing service. Darent Valley Hospital (DVH) is the base and the service supports a catchment area covering North West Kent, Dartford, Gravesend, Swanley and Bexley, serving a local population of approximately 400,000 people.
This post is advertised as a new full-time Consultant Haematologist post; however, anyone who wishes to work less than full time is encouraged to apply. There is the opportunity to job share and work flexibly as the service allows.
