You’ll play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality drainage installations on some of the region’s most respected construction projects. Key Responsibilities Deep Drainage Operations Safely and accurately excavate for deep drainage systems, manholes, and associated infrastructure. Operate 360 excavators (8T/14T) to required line, level, and depth in line with site drawings and specifications. Confidently use trench boxes, manhole boxes, drag boxes, and trench sheets to ensure safe excavation practices. Support the installation of concrete, clay, and plastic pipes of various sizes, maintaining correct bedding and surround. Excavate around live services with care, following all service avoidance procedures. Assist with benching, backfilling, and reinstatement works as required. Technical & Safety Compliance Read and interpret technical drawings, levels, and setting-out information accurately. Ensure dig permits are obtained and followed before breaking ground. Carry out daily pre-start safety inspections and maintenance checks on plant and equipment. Complete essential greasing, cleaning, and routine maintenance to keep machines in excellent working order. Report defects or service requirements promptly to the site management team. Teamwork & Delivery Work collaboratively with drainage gangs and site engineers to achieve programme milestones. Maintain a strong focus on quality, precision, and safety throughout all operations. Manage time effectively and work proactively to support smooth, efficient site progress. Essential Requirements Proven experience operating 360 Excavators in deep drainage and civil groundwork environments. Ability to operate 8T and 14T excavators confidently and safely. Valid CPCS or NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) card for 360 Excavator operation. Sound understanding of drainage layouts, pipe installation, and trench support systems. Demonstrated ability to work safely around live services. Reliable, punctual, and professional in all aspects of work. Must hold a valid Right to Work in the UK. Desirable Additional CPCS/NPORS qualifications for Dumper, Roller, or Telehandler.
