East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology & Blood Transfusion team at Ipswich Hospital.

We are a friendly, busy MHRA and UKAS compliant hospital laboratory, committed to staff training and development. Our laboratory is IBMS accredited for registration and specialist portfolios.
Main duties of the job
* Maintain quality management system and uphold UKAS accreditation.
* Train and supervise junior staff.
* Validate and authorise results and provide safe quality service for patients.
* Troubleshoot complex equipment or process issues.
* Perform manual, semi‑automated and fully automated laboratory investigations, including specialist investigations, accurately and efficiently.
* Manage stock control and usage, including Blood Transfusion stock levels and records, ensuring efficient use.
About the laboratory equipment
We are equipped with Grifols, Sysmex XNs and ACL TOPS analysers. Our LIMS is Lab Centre. Previous working knowledge of these technologies would be an advantage.

Person specification
Registration
* HCPC registered
* Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent
* Specialist portfolio in Haematology and Blood Transfusion or CPSM logbook
* Evidence of CPD
* Appropriate Post Registration IBMS Specialist Diploma or IBMS diploma in Biomedical Science
Knowledge & Experience
* Theoretical knowledge and practical experience of specialist biomedical procedures relevant to the post.
* Substantial practical experience working in a Biomedical Science laboratory.
* Experience of Quality Management Systems.
* Experience of performing Risk Assessments.
* Experience of Pathology IT systems.
* European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent.
* Previous relevant experience working in the NHS.
* Previous experience line‑managing staff.
