Tennial Personnel are actively seeking an experienced and hands-on Production Team Leader to join a growing, family-run manufacturing business based in Risby, near Bury St Edmunds. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity after a successful 12 week working period, working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with a 1-hour unpaid break, offering an hourly rate of £14.00£15.00 per hour depending on experience.
Reporting directly to the Production Manager, this role sits within an exciting and rapidly developing sector and plays a key part in delivering a critical first production run of a newly designed product. You will lead a mixed team of Production Operators and Production Technicians while remaining actively involved on the production floor, promoting a strong focus on safety, quality, structure, and on-time delivery. Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Coordination
Lead, supervise, and support a team of Production Operators and Production Technicians
Manage day-to-day production activities for teams typically ranging from 2 to 10 people
Allocate tasks and balance workloads to meet production priorities and deadlines
Act as the first point of escalation for technical, quality, and safety issues
Coach and support team members to maintain consistent standards of workmanship
Promote a disciplined, safe, and collaborative working environment
Hands-On Production
Actively participate in mechanical and/or electromechanical assembly activities
Use specialist and precision hand tools, including torque screwdrivers and calibrated tools
Ensure all work is completed in line with engineering drawings and work instructions
Carry out in-process checks and final build reviews where required
Quality, Safety & Process
Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times
Reinforce adherence to defined and emerging production processes
Support inspection, documentation, and traceability requirements
Identify process gaps, risks, or inefficiencies and provide constructive feedback
Promote a right-first-time, quality-focused culture on the production floor
Skills Required
Strong technical background in mechanical and/or electromechanical assembly
Proven experience leading or supervising teams in a production or workshop environment
Confidence using specialist and precision hand tools
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
Calm, structured, and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
Strong communication skills with the ability to lead by example
Qualifications Required
Experience within low-volume, high-mix or bespoke manufacturing environments
Exposure to pressure testing, electrical testing, or controlled lifting operations
Familiarity with quality systems, traceability, or regulated manufacturing environments
Experience supporting first-of-type or first production runs
