Overview
This is an excellent opportunity to join the Acute Medicine team at as a Consultant in Acute Medicine. Based at Arrowe Park Hospital, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality acute medical care within a large, consultant-led service that places strong emphasis on early senior clinical decision-making, multidisciplinary working and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).
The Acute Medicine service manages approximately 500–600 emergency medical attendances each week and includes the Urgent Medical Assessment Centre (UMAC), delivering ambulatory and same-day care, alongside the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) providing inpatient assessment and short-stay care. Consultants provide senior clinical leadership across these areas and contribute to the acute medical take, post-take ward rounds and front-door decision making in collaboration with Emergency Medicine and specialty teams.
Acute Medicine at WUTH is undergoing a period of service development focused on strengthening Same Day Emergency Care, improving patient flow and creating a more sustainable acute assessment model. Consultants joining the service will have the opportunity to contribute to these developments and to shape how acute care is delivered in the future.

Responsibilities
1. To comply at all times with the GMC's guidance on 'Good Medical Practice' as amended or substituted from time to time.
2. To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
3. To undertake the duties defined within the attached recruitment pack.
4. To be accountable for the reasonable and effective use of Trust resources in the delivery of your duties, and to be professionally professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
5. On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust's corporate Induction.
6. To participate in the Trust's Statutory & Mandatory training programme.
7. To be responsible for the clinical management of all patients under your care.
8. To work flexibly with colleagues to meet the needs of the service and achieve Trust and national targets.
Requirements / Qualifications
1. Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of achieving CCT or CESR at the time of interview.
2. To have enhanced DBS clearance if successful, paid for by the Trust and deducted from your salary over a period of 3 months.
