To help us achieve this, we are looking for a proactive and skilled Senior Commissioning and Contract Officer who can work across a range of commissioning areas. This role involves leading commissioning projects, developing robust insight and building strong working relationships with internal teams, external providers and stakeholders to support continuous improvement across our services.
Responsibilities
* Lead and support commissioning projects across any service area as required, including older people, lifelong and enablement and independence services
* Use data, performance insight and market intelligence to prepare complex reports and shape commissioning decisions
* Undertake contract management, due diligence, review quality and performance, and support service improvements and market development
You will be part of a team that values curiosity, innovation and continuous improvement, with opportunities to develop your analytical, commissioning and strategic skills.
Qualifications
* Strong analytic skills, including the ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data, insights and information to identify trends and translate findings into meaningful recommendations
* Excellent literacy, numeracy, IT skills, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities
* The ability to plan, deliver and review effectiveness in a structured and collaborative way
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build effective relationships across complex organisations
* An understanding of working within the public sector (or a strong appetite to develop this), along with an appreciation of the role that commissioning plays in achieving positive outcomes for residents
* A degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience that demonstrates your ability to operate at this level
* A willingness and ability to travel across the county to visit services
Compensation & Working Conditions
* Salary: NJC Grade 10 £39,862 to £42,839
* Working Pattern: Full Time (37 hours Monday - Friday)
* Contract Length: Permanent
* Location: Hybrid working – Office base is Chichester; please note the role requires regular travel across the county. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, 5 years referencing and a health check.
