Job Description:
What will you do?
All RAF Nurses are part of the Princess Mary’s Royal Air Force Nursing Service. As a Registered Nurse (Mental Health) Reserve, if mobilised on operations, you will work alongside your regular RAF colleagues as a Community Mental Health Nurse (CMHN) alongside a multidisciplinary team, providing high standards of nursing care to Service personnel. Your responsibilities include:
* Providing assessment, care planning, coordination, evaluation, and monitoring of evidence-based therapies/treatments to patients.
* Providing mental health medical support to aeromedical evacuations worldwide.
* Deploying to conflict areas to support UK Armed Forces with mental health care.
Minimum Education Requirements
* You must be NMC registered on Part 1 of the register, (Mental Health Nurse level 1 or Adult/Mental Health).
* You may apply during the final year of RN (MH) training, up to 12 months before completing your qualification. All candidates must be NMC registered before a contract offer.
Additional Requirements
* Be aged 21-47 (must attest before 48th birthday)
* Be a citizen of the UK or Ireland, or hold dual UK/other nationality, or be a Commonwealth citizen since birth with 'right to work' status.
* Hold a current UK driving license.
* Meet health and fitness criteria and pass a fitness test.
Role locations include bases at 502 Sqn, JHFS Aldergrove, Co Antrim; 600 Sqn, RAF Northolt, Middlesex; 612 Sqn, RAF Leuchars, Fife; and 4626 Sqn, RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire.
The career involves basic and specialist training, with opportunities for advancement, further education, and leadership roles, including potential to apply for a commission as a Nursing Officer.
