About Us
BOAL Extrusion is a well-established aluminium extrusion mill in Shepshed with over 35 years of experience and around 150 employees on site. Part of the wider BOAL Group, we supply high-quality aluminium profiles to industries including construction, transport, and solar.
We are now looking for a multi-skilled (electrically biased) Maintenance Engineer to join our team and help us keep our plant running efficiently.
The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll be part of a dedicated team ensuring all plant and equipment is maintained to maximise operating efficiency. You'll work on planned preventative maintenance (PPM), respond to breakdowns, and contribute to continuous improvement projects. This is a hands-on role in a demanding environment, where your expertise will make a real impact.
Please note: For this role, you will be working on rotating morning, afternoon and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns.
* Install, test, operate, maintain and repair mechanical equipment.
* Support major refurbishments and integration of new plant.
* Troubleshoot and problem-solve using logical fault-finding skills.
* Ensure safe working practices and compliance with H&S policies.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Participate in an on-call rota to cover emergency breakdowns.
What We're Looking For:
* Time-served multi-skilled engineer (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) – electrically biased.
* Strong knowledge of motors, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems.
* Logical fault-finding skills, ideally with exposure to PLCs (Schneider preferred).
* Experience in an industrial engineering environment (heavy plant equipment preferred).
* Ability to read hydraulic drawings and basic knowledge of oil monitoring systems.
* A can-do attitude, flexibility, and willingness to work in a challenging environment.
