Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton is a state‑of‑the‑art PICU & Acute hospital located in the West Midlands. The service features a 12‑bed PICU ward and a 17‑bed Acute ward and operates within a full multidisciplinary team (MDT) that supports adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including those who may need an intensive care environment.
Main duties of the job
As part of a multidisciplinary team you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction under the supervision of a more senior Occupational Therapist. An integral part of this role will be supervising others, with a focus on supporting student education within the team.
Your role
You will provide direct clinical care, including assessing, implementing and developing an OT treatment programme based on service users' diagnoses and identified needs. Treatment plans will be formulated from assessment findings and associated risks. You will work closely with a clinical lead OT to develop evidence‑based practice and will have the opportunity to influence service model development.
Job responsibilities
* Provide direct clinical care across multiple sites within the West Midlands region, including PICU & Acute Mental Health Hospitals, Mental Health Rehabilitation & Recovery Hospitals, Learning Disabilities & Autism In‑Patient services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, and a Neuropsychiatry Hospital.
* Supervise an Occupational Therapy Assistant under the support of a Band 6 OT/Head OT.
* Report to a Specialist OT (Band 6) / Head OT (Band 7).
* Maintain a full‑time commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday.
Qualifications
* A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council).
* Experience or at least interest in the field of adult mental health.
* An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and a hands‑on approach.
* Excellent communication and time‑management skills.
* Interest in student education.
