About the Role
An established consultancy is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Harrogate office. This is a full-time, on-site position offering the chance to deliver cost consultancy services across a diverse range of private sector developments. You’ll work closely with clients, architects, contractors, and fellow consultants to oversee all financial aspects of construction projects, from feasibility through to final account. This client-facing role provides significant scope for career progression and the opportunity to contribute to the strategic growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver full pre- and post-contract Quantity Surveying services on multiple concurrent contracts
Prepare feasibility studies and cost plans
Lead procurement and tendering processes for contractors and consultants
Draft tender documents across a variety of procurement routes
Manage contract administration, including valuations, variations, and final accounts
Undertake value engineering and cost-saving exercises
Monitor and manage project budgets, including cost reporting and cash flow statements
Advise clients on contractual and commercial risks and opportunities
Build and maintain strong client relationships, encouraging repeat business
Support and mentor junior surveyors and team members
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, contract forms, and internal procedures
Requirements:
BSc in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
Professional qualification (MRICS preferred, other relevant qualifications considered)
Minimum 5+ years’ post-qualification experience in a UK consultancy environment
Proven track record across private sector projects (commercial, residential, industrial, retail, etc.)
Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC suites of contracts and other standard forms
Commercially astute with excellent communication skills and client-facing manner
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost management software (e.g., CostX)
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required
