Specialist Nursery Nurse - Child Development Centre

An exciting opportunity hasarisen to join our multidisciplinary team supporting children with additionalneeds and their families. Based at Wyre Forest Child Development Centre (CDC),this countywide role involves working closely with families, nurseries, andprofessionals to assess and support childrens developmental needs. Youll bepart of a compassionate and collaborative team committed to deliveringoutstanding care.

Thisis a term time only role, 22.5 hours per week for the 39 weeks of the schoolterms (0.52 whole time equivalent). Full training and support will beprovided, but the successful candidate will be expected to bring extensiveprior experience of working with pre-school children with additional needs. Youwill be line managed by the CDC Co-ordinator and work in partnership with arange of healthcare professionals. Your observations may contribute to futurediagnoses, so a high level of accuracy and a thorough understanding of childdevelopment are essential.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assess and support the developmental needs ofpre-school children with additional needs through 1-1 and co-facilitated groupsessions. These sessions help families understand their childs strengths andidentify how to best support their child. The role involves close collaborationwith healthcare professionals to fully understand each child and includessignposting families to services across health, education, social care, andvoluntary sectors. Strong empathetic communication skills are essential, alongwith the ability to maintain accurate records and produce clear, formalreports. The post holder must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and workrespectfully with families from diverse backgrounds. A sound understanding ofsafeguarding procedures for pre-school children is required. Regularsupervision supports ongoing professional development. Travel is required todeliver care in CDCs, nurseries, and family homes, ensuring support isaccessible and responsive.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Relevant qualification to profession NNEB or equivalent (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Childrens Care, Learning and Development)
* Post basic training courses e.g. special needs, counselling
* Will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.


Skills & Abilities

* Ability to challenge poor behaviour.
* A positive attitude and able to act on feedback
* Ability to praise and be supportive to others
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
* Ability to deal courteously with all members of staff and members of public
* Ability to work alone or function as part of a multi-disciplinary team


Additional Criteria

* Able to meet the travel requirements of the post
* You understand that we will not provide sponsorship to work for this role.


Knowledge

* Working knowledge of Health Services and relevant documents
* Relevant professional standards


Experience

* Working with children, particularly those with special needs and their families
* Planning, assessing and evaluating the development of children with special needs
