PERMANENT ROLE – CLASS 1 DRIVER £40,703.52 per annum
We have an exciting opportunity for Class 1 drivers to join our busy Howdens transport team from our Hemel Hempstead depot.
1. £40,703.52 per annum - base salary
2. Contracted to 44 hours per week
3. Working days 4 form 7
4. Start times between 05:00 - 06:00
5. Overtime paid at a time and a half after contracted hours achieved
6. Monthly paid

For every driver that you refer, you can earn an impressive £1,000 (subject to conditions)
What we expect from our drivers:
14. Responsible for the accurate, timely movement and delivery of our customers’ products
15. Delivering caged or palletised goods to RDC’s or stores
16. Ensuring paperwork is signed, and any agreed waste or cages are collected to be returned
17. Adhering to safe working practices to ensure the safety of yourself and others at all times
18. Securing load of the trailer to ensure products are safely secured to minimise chances of damage
19. Provide excellent customer service at all times and to take ownership of customer issues on delivery
20. Carry out multi-drop deliveries within the delivery window in a safe manner
21. Be aware of the vehicle defects and bring to the attention of Transport Office as necessary
22. Attend essential training in order to carry out the Driver role
23. To provide support in the Yard as required by the Transport Office
24. Adhering to Driving legislation and professional competence standards.
25. A flexible approach to working patterns and start times to meet business needs
26. Motivated and committed with high personal and professional standards
27. Adhere to and promote Health & Safety values
What will you bring?
28. Must hold a valid HGV Class 1 licence
29. Must hold a valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC Card)
30. Must hold a Digital Tachograph card
31. Must not have more than 6 points on your licence
32. Must have recent 2 years Class 1 driving experience
33. Must have excellent customer service skills
34. Previous retail and commercial driving experience is desirable
35. You must be confident, engaging, polite and friendly
36. You must be understanding, calm, professional and a team player
37. Be flexible in relation to shifts and duties
38. Be able to provide a time critical delivery service in line with targets agreed with customer and Wincanton
