Basic salary circa £68,000

Our client is a leading not-for-profit trade body in the financial services sector, representing a diverse membership and employing a small, high-impact team. They are seeking a Policy Manager to join their Regulation function, supporting members across key areas of financial regulation.
If you have practical policy experience in financial crime, conduct risk or compliance risk—ideally gained within a trade body, regulator, financial services firm, civil service or HM Treasury—we would be keen to hear from you. We recognise that candidates may not have experience across all areas and welcome expertise in at least one specialism.
The Role of Senior Policy Manager
The Senior Policy Manager will represent the interests of members to external stakeholders and help establish and maintain a favourable operating environment. The role supports the Head of Regulation and provides advice, guidance and policy development across key areas including:
* Financial crime (including fraud, AML, and broader financial crime policy)
* Conduct risk and consumer protection
* Compliance and FCA Handbook requirements
* Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR)
* Wider regulatory and risk management issues impacting members
Principal Tasks & Responsibilities
* Represent member interests with government, regulators, professional bodies and other trade associations
* Lead and contribute to policy advocacy through consultation responses, briefings and correspondence
* Respond to member queries and proactively identify policy development opportunities
* Draft guidance and communications including website content, newsletters and circulars
* Coordinate and chair panel and committee meetings, including agenda preparation, minutes and follow-up actions
* Monitor regulatory and market developments to anticipate future policy priorities
* Speak at and chair industry events, seminars and conferences
* Support the Head of Regulation and contribute to strategic objectives
Person Specification
* Around 3–5+ years’ relevant post-qualification experience
* Experience within financial services, regulation, government or a trade association
* Exposure to financial crime, conduct risk or compliance risk (experience in one area is sufficient)
* Strong ability to analyse policy issues and develop evidence-based positions
* Clear, concise and persuasive written communication skills
* Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
* Confidence engaging with senior external stakeholders and member organisations
* Ability to take ownership and leadership responsibility for defined policy areas
* Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
* Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
* A finance-related or degree-level qualification is desirable
