The Lead Buyer will be responsible for providing end‑to‑end procurement support for a defined set of complex direct materials or services. They will apply sourcing policies, act as the key interface between suppliers, internal stakeholders and operational teams, and ensure compliance with specifications, budgets and schedules. The Lead Buyer will also support the Regional Procurement Leader with KPIs, procurement initiatives and wider operational objectives
As a Lead Buyer, you will be responsible for:
Handling quotations, issuing purchase orders, and proactively following up with suppliers to resolve PO‑related issues, mitigate risks, and manage required schedule changes.
Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships while ensuring ERP systems and internal stakeholders receive accurate and timely updates.
Supporting the development and execution of sourcing strategies and effectively communicating plans and priorities with regional procurement teams.
Preparing, analysing and distributing KPI reports and operational planning data to support performance tracking and informed decision‑making.
Identifying and driving cost‑saving opportunities, ensuring efficient end‑to‑end PO execution and seamless collaboration between suppliers and internal teams.
Managing operational challenges, communicating required changes promptly, and contributing to strategic and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
Assisting the Regional Procurement Leader with resource planning, training, onboarding activities, and day‑to‑day task prioritisation to support smooth team operations.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
Have proven experience in procurement or sourcing, ideally within manufacturing, engineering, or another complex, high‑compliance environment.
Have demonstrated capabilities in supplier management, including negotiation, PO execution, issue resolution, and relationship building.
Be proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle or similar) and comfortable analysing data to support reporting and decision‑making.
Possess strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels.
Have strong interpersonal, organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities simultaneously.
Be able to lead initiatives of moderate scope and support continuous improvement activities.
CIPS qualification (or working towards it) is highly desirable.

This role will be based between Aberdeen and Montrose.
As part of your regular responsibilities, you can expect to work around 2 days per week in Montrose.
During your initial training and onboarding period, you will be required to spend 4–5 days per week in Montrose to ensure thorough knowledge transfer and hands‑on support.
