Here you will learn from the industry’s best, working with teams installing and constructing electrical power distribution and transmission systems from 400V to 132kV in a manner that delivers safe, high workmanship quality and fit for purpose networks for the customer. As an NG Bailey apprentice you will: Train at one of the top performing colleges or training providers in the country Learn about our award-winning approach to working safely Develop great working relationships with some of the industry’s most talented people Have a strong support network giving you the chance to build your confidence and use your initiative. You will learn to: Work with associated multicores and earth cables Installation of containment and cabling Learn to understand and adhere to risk assessments Use mobile lifting equipment Gain a SPEN authorisation and Safety Passport Maintain site safety at all times PAT test Calibration testing Read and understand engineering drawings, wiring and circuit diagrams Inspect and test electrical installations between 240V and 415V Diagnose and rectify faults on a range of circuits and equipment Use small hand tools such as and including, screwdrivers, pliers, grips, hammers, saws, etc Operate electrical 110v and battery powered tools such as SDS drills, combi drills, impact drivers, disc grinders etc Installation of multicore cables on prepared cable trays and in cable troughs within substation compounds, including relay rooms and the glanding & termination of such cables, wiring of electrical relay panels, battery chargers, outdoor plant etc. We are looking for people who: Keen to learn and committed to NG Bailey values: Passion, Integrity, Responsibility, Excellence Reliable, organised and consistently punctual Comfortable working indoors or outdoors in all weather Be prepared for early starts and travel away from home for college and work Enjoy practical, hands-on work with good coordination Work well in a team but can also act independently Able to follow instructions, stay calm under pressure and complete tasks safely You will attend college to complete the Level 3 Apprenticeship Power Industry Distribution Cable Jointer. In addition, you will regularly attend in-house training and development as part of the programme. To apply you need: To be aged 18 or over to work within high voltage power networks Able to safely distinguish colour-coded wiring and components To have a valid UK driving licence 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade C/4 or above in English Language, Maths, Science Grade C/4 or above in Scottish National 5 or Scottish Intermediate (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science. Please note, to be eligible for an apprenticeship you: Must be able to complete the apprenticeship within the required time, including the End-Point Assessment. Must have a valid and eligible residency status and the right to work in England. Must be ordinarily resident in the UK or its territories for at least 3 years before starting the apprenticeship.
