Veterinary Surgeon – Hospital & Practice | Middlesbrough & Hartlepool | Up to £65,000 DOE A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join a highly skilled and supportive hospital and practice team based in Middlesbrough, with additional support across a second practice in Hartlepool. This permanent role offers the chance to work within a thriving small animal environment where clinical excellence, teamwork and colleague wellbeing are genuinely prioritised. This opportunity is ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon looking to develop their clinical interests, gain exposure to a varied caseload and work alongside an experienced, collaborative team in a modern and well-equipped setting. The Role The successful candidate will primarily be based at the Middlesbrough hospital while also supporting the Hartlepool practice as required. The position offers a varied caseload including consultations, surgery, inpatient care and emergency cases, providing excellent opportunities for both professional development and clinical progression. The rota is based on 40 hours per week across 4 days, with no out-of-hours responsibilities thanks to a dedicated night team at the Middlesbrough hospital. Flexible and part-time rotas can also be discussed to support work-life balance. About the Practice The successful Veterinary Surgeon will join a friendly and experienced team consisting of: 8 Veterinary Surgeons 10 Registered Veterinary Nurses 2 Student Nurses 6 Receptionists 5 Patient Care Assistants The team prides itself on maintaining a positive and supportive culture where colleagues genuinely support one another both professionally and personally. Clinical standards and patient care are at the heart of everything they do, with a strong focus on collaboration, mentorship and continuous improvement. Facilities include: Digital X-ray Dental radiography Doppler ultrasound In-house laboratory Multiparameter monitoring equipment Dedicated hospital facilities and night team The practice sees a broad and interesting caseload ranging from routine procedures to advanced emergency and medical cases, making it an excellent environment for Veterinary Surgeons keen to enhance their skills or pursue specific clinical interests. The Ideal Candidate The successful applicant will be a compassionate and motivated Veterinary Surgeon who is committed to delivering outstanding patient and client care. They will ideally: Be confident managing medical and surgical cases Enjoy working within a supportive team environment Have excellent communication and client care skills Be keen to continue developing clinical knowledge and expertise Enjoy mentoring and supporting colleagues where appropriate Thrive in a busy hospital and practice setting with varied caseloads Whether early in their veterinary career or looking to further develop specialist interests, this role offers excellent support, training and progression opportunities.
