Engineering Project Manager

As a key member of the Bilfinger UK Engineering Team, you will have the opportunity to work on innovative design and EPC projects across the UK and potentially Europe, with professional development opportunities including training, education, and international assignments.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serve as the primary responsible person for project delivery during the detailed design phase, acting as the first focal point for the project team.
2. Lead a team of Lead Engineers, Engineers, and Designers to deliver single and multi-discipline engineering, EPCM, or EPC projects.
3. Manage projects primarily in the UK, with potential for projects across Europe and other Bilfinger regions.
4. Oversee projects across their lifecycle, from concept to commissioning, in both greenfield and brownfield settings.
5. Ensure projects are completed within budget and schedule, managing change control and P&L.
6. Take full ownership of engineering projects, ensuring completion post-final invoice.
7. Manage either a single project or a portfolio, depending on size and complexity.
8. Coordinate projects that may be standalone or part of larger EPCM/EPC scopes.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
We are looking for candidates with:
1. Extensive experience as an Engineering or Project Manager in multi-discipline projects within relevant sectors.
2. Experience in setting up project schedules and reporting systems.
3. Knowledge of engineering project management and design management plans.
4. Understanding of main engineering disciplines: Automation, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, EC&I, and Process.
5. Practical experience across project phases: concept, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning.
6. Familiarity with standard contracts like NEC3/4 and FIDIC.
7. Result-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.
8. Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to delegate and intervene when necessary.
9. Ability to identify growth opportunities and support sales and business strategies.
10. Experience with change control procedures and client negotiations.
11. Leadership skills to motivate teams and achieve targets, even in setbacks.
Preferred qualifications include a relevant engineering degree, Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, APM qualification, and experience in regulated process industries.
