Position
Band 2 Trainee Senior Healthcare Support Worker (TSHCSW) in a variety of wards and outpatients opportunities.
The TSHCSW role provides an entry point on the nursing apprentice career pathway. You will initially be employed as a Band 2 Health Care Support Worker and receive in‑house training to gain the skills and competencies to progress into a Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Band 3).
Key responsibilities
* Provide direct patient care while maintaining privacy and dignity of patients; work alongside a registered nurse to deliver essential nursing care for adult patients.
* Assist patients with daily living tasks, including washing, toileting, and meals; help with mobility and pressure area care.
* Provide emotional support to patients and families.
* Undertake “one‑to‑one observation” for patients at high risk due to their clinical condition.
* Maintain a clean and safe ward environment, preventing infection and falls.
* Record patients’ vital signs, identify and escalated changes to the registered nurse; additional clinical skills such as ECGs, venepuncture and simple dressings may be required.
Qualifications
Good academic qualifications are required. Previous healthcare experience is not required, but enthusiasm and commitment to learn are essential.
Working hours
• 37.5 hours per week (full time) or 24 hours per week (part time).
• Flexible across all shift patterns, including weekdays, weekends, nights and bank holidays.
• Minimum 23 hours per week for a part‑time role.
Locations
* Outpatients – Monday to Friday, days only
* Wards – 24‑7 shift patterns
