About The Role As an Assessor/Trainer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning and assessment as part of Telford College’s Employer Engagement provision. Working collaboratively within a dedicated team, you will support apprentices and employers by identifying skills needs and delivering effective, industry-focused learning and assessment that meets both College and Awarding Body quality standards. You will work closely with Directorate Managers, Business Programme Coordinators, and Business Development colleagues to support the development and delivery of a consistent, high-quality experience for all customers. This includes contributing to a common delivery approach and ensuring agreed standards are maintained across all programmes. The role requires you to deliver learning in line with agreed delivery schedules and schemes of work, ensuring that programmes are delivered as planned from project commencement. You will monitor progress closely, keeping apprentices focused and on track to achieve, while proactively communicating progress, challenges, or potential deviations from delivery plans to relevant managers and colleagues. Quality is central to this role, and you will be observed and appraised annually in line with College and Awarding Body requirements, ensuring continuous improvement and excellence in delivery. Key Responsibilities Agree and help design programs in their vocational specialist (electrical installation) as required by the departmental managers and staff. Provide high quality Learning and Assessment delivery and support apprentices to achieve their qualification within agreed time scales. Prepare workbooks, training packages and resources for training. Identify, develop and report any further/additional business opportunities with the employer whilst delivering training. Enroll and induct candidates with the College, ensuring all information is correct. Carry out Functional Skills Initial Assessments, Diagnostics, End Tests and provide appropriate delivery and support where required. Maintain individual records and ILP’s and Electronic portfolios of work. Monitor learner progress and ensure the learners meet deadlines. Monitor the status of candidate achievement through progress reports. Maintain contact with customer base and visit as required to ensure progress and quality delivery of qualifications and training. Liaise and represent the college with employers, public and private sector agencies. Skills and Expertise A full driving license and use of a car A good communicator with ability to negotiate with candidates and employers The ability, drive and determination to deliver timely and outstanding success and always work towards continuous improvement Knowledge and/or competencies of health and safety as relevant to the post and a commitment to safeguarding the health and safety of learners and others An understanding of and commitment to diversity and equality of opportunity. Qualifications and Training Vocational competency within Electrical sector (C&G 5357 Electrical installation) minimum level 3 and 18th edition qualified Level 2 qualification (GCSE A* – C, or equivalent) in Maths and English or a willingness to attain these qualifications with the support of the College in the first year of employment Hold an Assessors qualification (A1 or equivalent) or have a firm commitment to obtaining one. Hold IQA qualifications (V1 or equivalent) (Desirable)
