Job Title: Assistant Engineering Manager / Workshop Manager Location: Arriva Accident Centre – Enfield Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: 58,000 per annum Join Arriva London and take the lead in keeping our fleet moving. We are looking for a hands-on, experienced Assistant Engineering Manager / Workshop Manager to oversee and manage the full lifecycle of accident and repair work at our Enfield Accident Centre. This is a crucial leadership role, perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage operations from start to finish. Key Responsibilities: Health and safety is at the core of our operations—we are committed to creating a strong safety culture while ensuring full compliance with all plant and equipment regulations Oversee bus repairs from initial assessment to return to service, ensuring high-quality workmanship and efficient turnaround times. Manage workshop productivity, monitor progress, and ensure targets and KPIs are consistently met. Coordinate with third-party contractors, suppliers, and assessors to ensure smooth communication and timely completion of work. Create work orders, document repairs, and generate detailed records of labour, parts, and materials used. Perform and record quality checks throughout the repair process to maintain safety and compliance standards. Delegate tasks effectively, managing the day-to-day activities of a small team of engineers and technicians. Work with assessor reports and maintain compliance of all workshop equipment and plant. Arrange return of repaired vehicles to their respective depots, ensuring all required documentation and checks are complete. Deliver training and mentoring to staff, supporting ongoing development and performance improvement. Use Oracle (Oracle experience preferred) or similar systems for parts ordering, job tracking, and reporting. What We’re Looking For: Strong background in vehicle engineering or workshop management, preferably within the commercial or public transport sector. Proven experience overseeing full-cycle repair operations. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership with the ability to manage and motivate a small team. Familiarity with compliance, safety protocols, and quality standards. Experience using Oracle (or similar systems) is highly desirable. A proactive approach to maintaining and promoting health and safety in the workplace. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of a Bodyshop environment, ideally with experience in Bodyshop operations and workflows are preferred.
