The Encapsulation Assistant Manager is enthusiastic and hardworking, with experience in all aspects of Encapsulation manufacturing along with outstanding attention to detail and communication skills. General / Operational Responsibilities: • Responsible for the PDCA (Planning, doing, checking, and acting) to ensure the department is compliant with all practices and procedures. • Working in line with manufacturing best practice of SQDCP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People). • Your direction to the Supervisors ensures the product is produced as per plan, on time, and right first time. • Coach and guide the Encapsulation Supervisors in all day to day items. • Take ownership of the teams when the Supervisors are off shift, on holiday or absent. • Working on existing products with the NPD (New Product Development) team to establish problem products and suggest and work to alleviate problem items. • Taking responsibility and drive of NPD and EPD (Existing Product Development) trials in department. • Taking ownership of the department in its entirety, from hygiene, maintenance, product runs etc. • Identifying and owning issues arising in the department, if something doesn’t work, or is not effective own the issue and work with the management and leadership teams to highlight, address and rectify. • Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the team, developing an individual’s weaknesses and utilising their strengths to enhance the team • Conduct daily team briefings to assign work, recognise achievement, communicate daily targets and provide handover information to the team • Conduct team toolbox talks and trainings where necessary • Ensure the production and quality policy is adhered to and ensure that products and processes confirm to established BRC (British Retail Consortium), ISO, Customer and Company Standards. • Monitor and support the team in achieving the results required by the Company. • Promote and maintain awareness and compliance to Health and Safety in accordance with best practice and legal requirements. • Implement a lean culture across the Encapsulation team to achieve measurable results in quality, efficiency and cost. • Ensure that route tracking is being undertaken across the department. • Take ownership of reporting issues to Engineering and monitoring of the engineering works orders on Monday.com. • Ensure that shutdowns, production start-ups and changeovers are carried out correctly. • Ensure all paperwork and manufacturing documentation are completed accurately and on time. • Manage resource allocation, taking into account absences and workstation assignments during breaks. • Manage and control training administration for shift including the submission of training sign off sheets UKG Pro Learning (SOP updates, general, department specific, CICs and so on) Leadership / Management Responsibilities: • Assist the Production Manager in: o Driving down absence by following the absence management process and procedures and guiding the supervisors to do the same. o Monitoring and managing capability across the department, coaching under performance in a supportive and encouraging manner, identifying training needs and using Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) where necessary. o Promoting a culture of high employee engagement and motivation where the needs of the business are balanced with the needs of individuals. o Organising tasks and setting goals for the team to achieve the departmental targets and that of the wider Bee Health and INW company. o Being a leadership ambassador to the vision & values of Bee Health, championing what good looks like. o Attending, in the absence of Production Manager, PDCA/SQPD/Planning Meetings o Organisation and planning of Encapsulation dispatch • Take full ownership of the Return to Work Interview process and the updating of UGK system delegating to the supervisors where necessary. • Develop strong interdepartmental relationships across all departments at Bee Health to ensure best practice is observed throughout the department. • Manage the day to day needs of the department including holiday management, capability management, probation and appraisal reviews and disciplinary management. Planning & Improvement Responsibilities: • Assist the Production Manager in: o Communicating with the planning department to ensure that any material or stock issues are escalated in a timely manner. o Carrying out regular skills gap analysis across the department to identify skills gaps and requirements to help plan and inform future requirements and internal progression. o Championing the promotion and implementation of new processes across the department. • Conduct daily reviews of planned production and staffing levels to ensure the necessary resources and skills are available to achieve the required targets. • Ensure the supervisors are producing a comprehensive daily handover for the next shift, in a clear, unbiased and efficient manner. • Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve the Encapsulation department and all related activities. Bee Health is a manufacturing environment with production demands and the need for immediate reaction. There are multiple workloads for the Encapsulation Assistant Manager and direct reports with very time specific deadlines. The ability to work under pressure, prioritise yours and your shifts workloads to suit the needs of the business. Hours of Work: Core Hours Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm Flexibility required to provide support for Supervisors across all Encapsulation Department shifts Salary: £40,000 per annum plus bonus.
