About the Role
We are seeking a Consultant in Public Health to join NHS Western Isles. This is a permanent position with exciting opportunities to work within an established public health team, engaging in diverse professional activities and contributing to regional and national projects. The role offers potential for learning and career progression, suitable for consultants at all career stages, including those nearing the completion of their specialist training.
Responsibilities
1. Work across the three domains of public health with flexibility to focus on areas of interest.
2. Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical colleagues and partner organizations on various projects, including implementing the Western Isles public health strategy.
3. Support health protection on-call rotation, approximately one week every six weeks, primarily from home, with additional pay for on-call duties.
4. Engage in regional work via the North of Scotland Public Health Network and participate in national groups and networks.
5. Manage staff within the department and contribute to training development and delivery.
Location and Work Environment
The role is based at the Western Isles Health Board Office in Stornoway, with occasional travel to other islands such as Benbecula and Barra. The post is full-time but part-time applicants will be considered.
Benefits and Additional Information
* Salary range: £107,144 – £142,369 per annum or Band 8d: £99,534 - £103,795 per annum, plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,349 per year.
* Relocation expenses up to £8,000, with options for short-term accommodation and assistance in finding long-term housing.
* Eligibility to register with the PVG Scheme.
* This role does not qualify for a Health and Care Worker visa, and NHS Western Isles cannot provide a Certificate of Sponsorship.
