Here at The Old Mill Hotel we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily operations of our kitchen. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in culinary arts and food production, with a passion for hospitality and excellence in food safety. As the Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food preparation, and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment. This role is essential in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests. This role has a 40 hours contract with paid overtime when working above contract.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate activities of kitchen staff to ensure efficient food production.
* Oversee food preparation processes to maintain quality and safety standards.
* Train and mentor kitchen staff in culinary techniques, food safety practices, and hospitality skills.
* Manage inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations.
* Develop and implement menus that reflect seasonal offerings and customer preferences.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the kitchen environment.
* Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
Skills
* Proven experience as a chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant setting.
* Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food preparation.
* Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
* Familiarity with hospitality standards and exceptional customer service principles.
* Experience in bartending is an advantage but not essential.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective team collaboration.
