No site access without a CSCS card.About the RoleA freelance Quantity Surveyor is required for a high-tech processing plant fit-out programme in North Hertfordshire.
This is a hands-on role working for a specialist subcontractor delivering internal packages on complex industrial and technical schemes. Youll work closely with a commercially minded Director and be based mainly on site, managing day-to-day commercial activity and ensuring accurate records, measurements and cost control.Scope of Works FireboardingDry lining and ceilingsFirestoppingFlooring and resin systemsInternal and fire-rated doors (plus some external doors)Roller shutters and fire curtainsKey Responsibilities Take-offs and measurement of materials for orderingDaily worksheets, record keeping and commercial trackingManage internal fit-out packages from procurement through to final accountPrepare subcontract orders, variations and payment applications (NEC preferred)Material price checks, benchmarking and supply chain comparisonsManage subcontractor accounts including valuations, change control and payment noticesValidate dayworks, site records and progressProduce cost reports, forecasts and value trackingSupport procurement, tender analysis and package recommendationsRegular site presence to walk the works and verify progressBuild strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and delivery teamsIdentify commercial risks and opportunitiesPerson specification Minimum 4 years experience as a Quantity SurveyorBackground with a main contractor or subcontractorExperience across internal fit-out, fire protection, dry lining, ceilings, flooring or similar packagesHands-on approach with strong take-off, measurement and ordering skillsConfident managing worksheets, dayworks and site-based recordsStrong commercial management skills across procurement, variations, cost reporting and final accountsComfortable working in a fast-paced, quality-driven environmentQualifications HNC or above in a construction-related disciplineCSCS cardTPBN1_UKTJ
