Job Title: CAMHS Early Help Practitioner
Location: Livewell South West, Mount Gould Road, Plymouth, PL4 7QD
Job Summary
37.5 hours per week (full‑time on a hybrid model). The role is part of the CAMHS Early Help Pathway, providing early intervention services, assessments and targeted short‑term interventions up to 8 sessions within the I‑THRIVE model, focusing on emerging mental health difficulties in children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the emotional, psychological and social wellbeing of children and young people with a focus on early intervention.
* Deliver evidence‑based, targeted interventions (one‑to‑one and group) and assessments in a timely manner.
* Implement Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROMS) and evaluate planned interventions.
* Represent CAMHS in multi‑agency meetings (EHAT, SEND, child protection) and coordinate the mental health component of multi‑agency plans.
* Deliver training programmes to schools and community services.
* Actively participate in line management of senior and junior staff and contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
* Liaise with CAMHS pathways across the city and develop relationships with statutory and non‑statutory providers.
* Maintain confidentiality and communicate clearly with children, families and other health professionals.
* Promote resilience, prevention and early intervention in the community.
* Work within a hybrid model with some remote work and access to office/clinical space.
Person Specification
Knowledge & Skills – Essential
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.
* Time management and meeting deadlines.
* Experience in mental health assessment, including risk management.
* Knowledge of legislation, policies and the I‑THRIVE model.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and self‑motivate.
Knowledge & Skills – Desirable
* IT skills and familiarity with various programmes.
Experience – Essential
* Post‑registration experience working with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
* Experience of effective working with families of diverse cultural backgrounds.
* Experience of multi‑agency working and managing an autonomous caseload.
Experience – Desirable
* Experience within child and adolescent mental health.
* Experience supporting students and line management of junior staff members.
Qualifications – Essential
* Core degree qualification in a mental health or related discipline (Nursing, Social Work, OT).
* Professional registration relevant to the qualification (e.g. NMC, HCPC).
Qualifications – Desirable
* Post‑graduate training in child mental health, counselling or systemic practice.
* Clinical supervisor & assessor training.
Other Requirements
* Ability to travel across Plymouth.
* Flexibility in working hours (part‑time, job share, flexible).
* Willingness to work across Livewell sites as required.
Recruitment & Sponsorship
This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. Livewell may close the job advertisement earlier than the specified deadline if a high number of applications are submitted. All Livewell staff are expected to be able and willing to work across a 7‑day service.
Salary and Contract
Band 5 – £31,049 to £37,796 a year (pro‑rata). Permanent contract. Working pattern: full‑time, part‑time, job share, and flexible working.
