We are seeking an ambitious and intellectually driven post-doctoral researcher to join our dynamic cancer research team at the University of Liverpool. Our research programme investigates how interactions between cancer cells and the immune system shape tumour progression, metastatic dissemination, and therapeutic response. This role is ideally suited to a researcher who is ready to drive forward high-impact translational research. As a post-doctoral researcher, you will lead the experimental direction of your project, working both independently and collaboratively across the group. You will play a central role in shaping ongoing research, contributing to study design, data interpretation, and dissemination, while supporting and mentoring junior members of the lab. You will have access to advanced technologies, including pre-clinical tumour models and patient-derived samples, and will contribute directly to research with clear clinical relevance and impact. Key Responsibilities - Lead the design, execution, and optimisation of experimental strategies aligned with project goals. - Independently conduct and oversee complex laboratory-based research using advanced molecular and cellular biology approaches. - Analyse tumour samples from pre-clinical models and patient cohorts using high-dimensional platforms, including multiplex imaging, flow and mass cytometry, transcriptomics, and proteomics. - Perform computational analysis of high-dimensional datasets, integrating multi-omic data where appropriate. - Interpret findings in a broader biological and translational context, contributing to manuscripts, grant applications, and presentations. - Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers and contribute to the collaborative research environment Contract Details - Duration: 1 year (full-time, 1.0 FTE) - Start date: 1 October 2026 - End date: 30 September 2027 - Extension: Subject to availability of funding This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful translational cancer research within a leading research environment. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
