Consultant Neurophysiologist YC72

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospital wishes to appoint a Consultant Neurophysiologist to be part of the Neurology department consisting of ten Consultant Neurologists and one Consultant Neurophysiologist who all have joint appointments with regional Neuroscience units at the Royal Free Hospital or the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Neurophysiology outpatient clinics are held on two sites (Hemel and Watford).
West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospital will be the employer for the appointment and will issue the contract of employment.
Main duties of the job
 * Direct Clinical Care includes:
 o Repetitive Nerve stimulation
 o Sympathetic Skin response
 o Evoked Potentials (SSEPs; BAEPs; VEPs) – not available now due to lack of equipment
 o Thermal thresholds testing (QST) – not available now due to lack of equipment
 o Central motor conduction studies – not available now due to lack of equipment
 o Movement disorder neurophysiology – not available now due to lack of equipment
 o EEG
 * All Consultants will be allocated 1 core SPA per week for professional development (CPD), Job Planning, Appraisal, Mandatory Training, attendance at regular team meetings which will have a clinical governance aspect and participation in Audit.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
 * GMC Registered with licence to practice or on Specialist Register in Neurophysiology (or within 6 months of date of interview)
 * MRCP(UK) or equivalent
 * MBBS or equivalent
 * Previous appointments which provided professional training in neurology /neurophysiology posts approved by the Royal College of Physicians – SCE in Neurology
