Robert Half is partnering with a manufacturing business in North Nottingham to recruit a Financial Controller. This is an autonomous division of a large PLC, offering the opportunity to take full ownership of the finance function while working closely with an experienced operations team.
This role will suit someone who enjoys being in the detail but also wants to influence how the business performs. You will be have full responsibility for the team and a clear mandate to partner with operations to drive performance, efficiency and margin.
The role
You will take ownership of the end-to-end finance function for the division, ensuring accurate reporting, strong controls and meaningful insight to support decision making. Alongside the core financial control responsibilities, there is a strong emphasis on commercial business partnering with operations, helping to improve cost control, productivity and overall site performance.
Responsibilities
* Full ownership of the finance function for the division, including management of the finance team
* Delivery of accurate and timely month-end reporting, with clear variance analysis and commentary
* Business partnering with Operations, supporting production, supply chain and site leadership teams
* Driving cost control, margin improvement and operational efficiency across the site
* Ownership of budgeting and forecasting processes, aligned to operational plans
* Monitoring and improving KPIs across production, labour, waste and overheads
* Maintaining a strong control environment and ensuring compliance with PLC reporting requirements
* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across systems, processes and reporting
What we’re looking for
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
* Proven Financial Controller or senior finance experience within a manufacturing environment
* Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory and production finance
* Track record of partnering with operations and influencing non-finance stakeholders
* Hands-on approach with the ability to operate autonomously
* Strong systems and Excel capability, with a focus on improving processes and reporting
* Comfortable working within a PLC structure and reporting framework
