Senior Scientist, Manufacturing Sciences – Scale Up Lab

Collaborate with process development scientists, engineers, and technical transfer groups to demonstrate process scale-up and technology capabilities. This role involves working in both upstream and downstream operations, offering a dynamic environment for those eager to lead and innovate.
Accountabilities
* Plan, execute, and troubleshoot continuous downstream operations.
* Serve as a subject matter expert on PAK BioSolutions, PAK Pilot.
* Analyze and interpret process results.
* Prepare experimental proposals, technical reports, work guides, and batch records.
* Train and guide new employees on downstream scale up lab operations.
* Represent Manufacturing Sciences and scale up lab on internal and external teams.
* Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to improve process outcomes.
* Plan, execute, and troubleshoot 50L to 200L bioreactors for fed-batch and perfusion cell culture processes.
* Conduct harvest operations including continuous flow centrifuges, depth filtration, and TFF.
* Produce data and materials for downstream development, toxicology, formulation, and stability studies.
Essential Skills/Experience
* Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioprocess Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related life sciences field.
* Relevant industry related experience: B.S. with 8+ years of related experience or M.S. with 6+ years of related experience
* Strong background in downstream unit operations including affinity, ion exchange, and viral inactivation.
* Experience operating cell culture equipment: bioreactors, CIP skids, and continuous centrifuges.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* Strong problem solving, experimental design, organizational, presentation, and documentation skills.
* Ability to work in a team environment or independently
* Capability to lead matrix teams.
* Willingness to work periodically on weekends.
Desirable Skills/Experience
* Understanding of engineering principles and application to bioprocessing.
* Experience culturing CHO and HEK cell lines, and purification techniques of monoclonal antibodies.
* Experience working with pilot scale bioprocessing equipment.
* Programming experience (VB.net, python, etc.).
* Experience in writing recipes for instrument automation.
* Fundamental understanding of key quality attributes necessary for cell culture, fermentation, and purification.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $112,164.00 - 168,246.00. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles),to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
