Teaching Assistant Required – Andover

We are currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary setting in Andover. This role is ideal for individuals with SEN experience, as well as those from backgrounds such as support work, youth work, care or education who are looking to support young people in a structured and supportive school environment.

About the Setting
The school is a specialist provision for pupils aged 11 to 16 with moderate learning difficulties. Pupils within this setting typically have a greater level of learning need than those in mainstream education, requiring additional support to access the curriculum, process information and develop key life skills.

Moderate learning difficulties can affect areas such as literacy, numeracy, communication and memory. Pupils may take longer to understand new concepts, benefit from repetition and require learning to be broken down into smaller, manageable steps. The school provides a highly supportive environment where progress is personalised and success is celebrated at every level.

The curriculum is broad, balanced and adapted to meet the needs of all learners. Alongside core subjects such as English, maths and science, there is a strong focus on practical learning, vocational skills and preparation for adulthood. Pupils have access to a range of engaging activities including arts, sports, life skills and hands-on learning experiences.

The school also places great value on enrichment opportunities, with regular trips and visits designed to support social development, independence and real-world learning. These experiences are an important part of helping pupils build confidence and apply their skills outside of the classroom.

You will be supporting pupils aged 11 to 16 within a classroom environment, working closely with teaching staff to help deliver lessons in a way that is accessible and engaging. You will support pupils with their learning, encourage participation and help build their confidence both academically and socially.
