Job responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our team based at Leighton Hospital. You must be a strong team player who can effectively contribute to the on-going delivery and development of the service.
Please note the post holder will be required to participate in a shift rota (Agenda for Change terms and conditions), following a suitable period of training. Working days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays is an integral part of this post.
The Haematology Laboratory is equipped with three Beckman Coulter DxH 900 FBC analysers (soon to be upgraded to DxH 900 analysers), 2 Werfen ACL TOP 350 coagulation analysers and Starrsed Auto Compact ESR analyser. Blood Transfusion is equipped with Bio-Rad IH-1000/IH-500 blood grouping analysers. The LIMS system is Clinisys Winpath Enterprise.
Continuous professional development is actively encouraged and attendance at appropriate internal and external courses is supported.
Cross-site working at other North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service laboratories may be a requirement.

Essential
* Previous experience of working in a Laboratory environment
* Demonstrate broad knowledge of Haematology techniques
* Understand the role of diagnostic Haematology in a clinical setting
* Familiarity with IT systems in Pathology
* Experience of working in a team and alone
* Excellent keyboard skills and attention to detail
* Good manual dexterity skills and co-ordination
* Experience of working to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); contributing to their review and implementation
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
* Communicate effectively and accurately, face to face, written, and by phone with colleagues and users of the service

* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
