An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Nursing Associate to join our Integrated Sexual health Team.
Sexual and Reproductive health community is a busy service that sees up to 90 patients daily. The role of the Nursing Associate is to assist and support the multidisciplinary Team ensuring optimal patient care. The nursing associate must have passion or experience in sexual health and will be responsible for delivering a high standard of care including nurse‑led services.
Main duties of the job
Maintain high standards of care.
Be competent in agreed clinical skills relevant to this area of work, e.g. microscopy, venepuncture, asymptomatic screening.
Advise patients on health promotion in relation to STI's and HIV prevention.
Assist in setting up clinics, maintain equipment, order supplies, and oversee operational issues, including stock maintenance for both clinics.
Arrange prescription of treatments and safely administer/supply these as prescribed, following NMC Standards and the trust policy, after completion of the medication competency test.
Chaperone and assist clinicians in complex specialist clinics, including examination and procedures for male and female patients.
Carry out point of care testing for HIV, other STIs, urinalysis, and pregnancy testing; manage negative results and refer patients to a senior clinician if results are reactive or abnormal.
Observe clinical policies, protocols, and working guidelines.

The post holder may be required to work at any of the trust sites in line with service needs.
Job responsibilities
The post holder will: Provide compassionate, safe and effective evidence‑based care and support to people in a range of care settings; deliver high quality, compassionate care with a focus on promoting health and independence; work as part of a designated clinical and care team providing and monitoring care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual; maintain a current working knowledge of other providers, resources, and referral systems to ensure individuals' needs are met within the parameters of practice; work independently in line with the individual's defined plan of care, within the parameters of practice of the Nursing Associate role, accessing clinical and care advice when needed; implement individualised care plans ensuring all care provided adheres to policies and procedures; work in partnership with all members of the multi‑professional health care team both within and external to the Trust to ensure continuity of care for the patient; promote and develop the use of current evidence to inform the delivery and promote the development of clinically effective care; communicate effectively with patients, relatives and other members of the care team to ensure a shared understanding of the patient's care; undertake a range of clinical procedures relevant to the clinical area; maintain accurate, legible and timely records of patient care and information shared; recognise and report any situations, behaviours or errors that could result in poor care outcomes.

* Practice Supervisor and Assessor
* Evidence of continuous professional development
Experience
* Recent clinical experience in acute or community setting
* Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
* Experience of using a range of IT equipment and programmes
* Experience of working within the clinical setting and applying for (incomplete but retained)
* Experience of involvement in support/development of less experienced staff
