SEN Learning Support Assistant – Winchester
Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and patient SEN Learning Support Assistant to support pupils in the Winchester area. This long‑term role involves working closely with children who have additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social or emotional challenges.
You will provide consistent, tailored support throughout the school day, helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and feel supported within a structured classroom environment. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a positive difference in their educational journey.
This opportunity is well suited to candidates with backgrounds in SEN, care, support work, youth work, or graduates looking to gain hands‑on experience in education, psychology, or child‑focused careers.
The Role:
1. Provide 1:1 support and small‑group assistance to pupils with SEN
2. Support pupils during lessons, activities, and transitions
3. Assist with emotional regulation, confidence, and behaviour strategies
4. Help adapt learning tasks under the guidance of teaching staff
5. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support teams
6. Encourage independence, engagement, and positive social development
7. Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Ideal Candidate:
8. Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
9. Calm, patient, and confident supporting additional needs
10. Strong communication and teamwork skills
11. Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
12. Adaptable, reliable, and proactive
13. Passionate about supporting children who need extra guidance
14. Psychology, education, or child‑related graduates encouraged to apply

17. Start Date: ASAP
18. Hours: Full‑time, term‑time
19. Pay Rate: £ – £ per hour
20. Contract: Long‑term
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
21. SEN or child‑support experience desirable
22. Safeguarding training can be provided
23. Understanding of SEN strategies beneficial but not essential
