A Library Assistant is the first point of contact for users of the library. Library Assistants deal with the public in person and on the telephone, answering enquires, assisting them in using self-service machines and public computers, staffing the council information point and signposting to other agencies. This part time post for 9.50 hours is at Alderley Edge Library.

If you are committed to providing excellent customer service and can contribute cheerfully and positively to an efficient, quality library service, then Alderley Edge Library could be the place for you. We currently have a vacancy for a Library Assistant to work 9.50 hours per week.
We need you to have the energy and enthusiasm to deliver the services we provide and be able to work as part of a small team of dedicated staff carrying out a wide range of library duties, responding to the needs of the Council's Customer Service Point located in the library and be involved in assisting and running events for both adults and children.
You must be able to demonstrate excellent IT and communication skills, an interest in books and lifelong learning and have experience of working in a customer facing environment.
The 9.50 hours are worked over a two-week timetable and will include alternate Saturday mornings. The approximate pattern of hours is detailed below. There is a need for flexibility as there are times when you may be asked to work at other libraries.
Week One
Tuesday 9.45 – 1.30
Wednesday 9.45 – 1.30
Week Two
Wednesday 10 – 1.30
Friday 12.45 - 5
Saturday 9.15 - 1
