Opportunity An opportunity has arisen for a permanent full-time OSG vacancy within the Security Department covering LSU and MSU. The purpose of the role is to undertake a range of duties in support of the security requirements of the Hospital. You will be based in Rowan View MSU Hospital and may also cover Aspen Wood LSU as staffing demands require.


Role and Department

The Security Department provides a hospital-wide service ensuring all aspects of Procedural, Dynamic and Passive security systems are in place, operationalised, maintained and regularly updated. This ensures a delivery of effective patient care is balanced with the hospital\'s statutory requirements to maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, patients and the public. The hospital\'s passive security systems are divided into functional areas including staff main entrance reception, visitor processing, security maintenance and control room operations. The department operates a flexible rostering system covering a 24-hour period including day, night shifts and weekends.


Responsibilities

* Security monitoring and responses to alarm states in the entry building.
* Staff identification and utilisation of specialised IT equipment.
* Key / PiT alarm and radio issue/return; key security checks.
* Vehicle processing and contractor/other tool checks.
* CCTV monitoring (entry building / reception).
* Entry building staff pedestrian control.
* Emergency vehicle escorts (fire, ambulance, etc.).
* Alarm response states for entry building / reception.
* Operational activities including: monitoring the searching of hospital vehicles; random vehicle searches on entry/exit to secure sites; checking security keys in automated cabinets; carrying out statutory checks on keys issued; checking key cabinets against shift patterns via computerised system.
* Operate electronic doors (vehicle and pedestrian) via Control Centre consoles.
* Use CCTV to monitor movement of traffic in and out of secure areas.
* Visitor Processing: secure processing of visitors into secure sites; visitor information and verification; pre-booking and goods/items processing; staff search (metal/mobile phones portals); visitor escort management; and assisting with escorting all visitors including child visits.
* Complete documentation on arrival/departure; verify visitors against approved lists; provide reception service using visitor computerised systems; notify wards/departments of visitors; explain hospital policies on prohibited items.
* Security Maintenance: routine perimeter patrols; response to alarm states; response to personal attack alarms; non-secure site security/barrier control; assist in updating patient photographs; participate in drug detection dog searches; administrative duties related to security information.
* Reception Operations: coordinate emergency responses across secure sites; monitor CCTV; ward alarm response; site incident response; emergency responses and escorting/monitoring emergency vehicles within secure sites.
* Coordinate emergency radio communications; apply security procedures for fire, escape, disturbance and hostage situations; act in accordance with Health and Safety procedures; undertake response arrangements for all alarm states under supervision; report equipment condition to the Reception Supervisor.
