Lead Your Own ‘School Within a School’
Take the lead at Coopers Mill and shape a unique, pioneering provision for undiagnosed SEND students in the Wyre Forest. Supported as part of ContinU Plus Academy (Ofsted Outstanding), you will have the freedom to develop education differently, make a real impact, and create a place where vulnerable young people can thrive. About the Role
Coopers Mill is our offsite SEND and Outdoor Education hub, providing holistic and therapeutic education for up to 12 pupils who find it difficult to succeed in larger peer groups.
As Head of Coopers Mill, you will:
1. Lead a small, specialist team delivering personalised learning and mentoring.
2. Expand Outdoor Education, including Bushcraft and learning outside the classroom.
3. Develop the residential letting arm of the Mill.
4. Establish the site as a training hub during non-teaching periods.
About You
We are looking for a leader who is:
5. Resilient, moral, and courageous with experience teaching highly disengaged young people.
6. Innovative and imaginative, able to grow and develop the site.
7. Tenacious in securing the right support and diagnosis for pupils to ensure successful reintegration into school or positive post-16 pathways.
8. Experienced in leading a small team and promoting a positive, value-driven culture.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
9. Higher Level First Aid (training provided if required).
10. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with the ability to teach Core subjects at Key Stage 3.
11. Demonstrable leadership experience
Desirable Qualifications & Skills
12. Experience delivering Bushcraft or Outdoor Education, or willingness to undertake training.
13. Experience of working with hard-to-reach teenagers.
