Job Title: Consultant Diagnostic Neuroradiologist (DNR). Start Date: ASAP. Contract Type: Permanent.

The 10 PAs post covers all aspects of diagnostic neuroradiology with opportunities to develop subspecialist interests and to participate in research, education and radiological innovation.
About the Department
The Wessex Neurological Centre at Southampton General Hospital is the regional neuroscience unit providing a dedicated, integrated, 24/7 acute neurosurgical and neurological assessment, investigation and treatment service to adults and children. UHS has a designated Level 1 Trauma Centre, a Comprehensive Stroke Centre with seven-day mechanical thrombectomy, a regional head and neck unit, and stereotactic radiosurgery within the Oncology unit.
Responsibilities
The appointed Consultant Diagnostic Neuroradiologist will:
* Contribute to provision of a high quality, consultant-led diagnostic neuroradiology imaging service.
* Share in 24/7 cover of the service, including on-call on a rota basis (intended to be 1 in 7 with prospective cover).
* Develop specialist skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and support regional tertiary services.
* Provide clinical supervision and professional management of radiology trainees alongside consultant colleagues.
* Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and protocol optimisation to enhance patient pathways and departmental efficiency.
* Note that some duties may be provided by offsite working.
What We Look For
Qualifications and Training
* Full GMC Registration
* Completed general training in Radiology and Diagnostic Neuroradiology at specialist level in a recognised centre
* Experience in a subspecialist area of neuroradiology and willingness to develop these aspects further
* Ability to work within multidisciplinary healthcare teams
* Enthusiasm for teaching and training
* Understanding of and willingness to participate in clinical governance and audit activities
* An appropriate level of leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal abilities to be effective in the role

Qualifications, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* GMC registration with a licence to practise
* Appropriate knowledge base and sound clinical judgement
* FRCR or equivalent
* Completed general training in Radiology and specialist-level Diagnostic Neuroradiology
Desirable criteria
* MRCP or MRCS or other relevant higher degree
* ECNR
* Publications in neuroradiological journals
* Inclusion on the Specialist Register
* Management/leadership training
* Clinical and education supervisor training
* Skull base MDT experience
* Experience in advanced imaging techniques related to neuroradiology
* Fellowship in diagnostic neuroradiology
