About Mason Clark Associates
Mason Clark Associates, a long‑established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with offices across Yorkshire, are looking to appoint a Chartered Civil Engineer at Associate / Director level.
Role Overview
Based in either the York or Leeds office, this is a strategic role for an experienced professional ready to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to business development. This senior, hands‑on leadership role offers real influence, autonomy, and a clear career pathway towards Director level.
THE ROLE
As a Chartered Civil Engineer, you will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day leadership and technical direction of the Leeds civil engineering function, supported by experienced colleagues across the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading and mentoring a small but growing civil engineering team
* Providing technical oversight across drainage, highways, SuDS and flood risk projects
* Managing project delivery, quality, invoicing and financial performance
* Supporting bids, fee proposals and client relationships
* Acting as a visible senior presence within the Leeds office
* Playing a key role in long‑term growth and succession planning
This is a Chartered‑led environment with strong technical standards and senior involvement in projects from inception to delivery.
About You
We are looking to speak with experienced civil engineers who are ready for a genuine step into a senior leadership role.
You Will Ideally Bring
* Chartered status (ICE or equivalent)
* Strong consultancy background in civil infrastructure design
* Proven experience in drainage, SuDS, flood risk assessments, access roads and car parks
* Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting professional development
* Commercial awareness, including fees, invoicing and team performance
* A collaborative, values‑led leadership style
Whats On Offer
* Salary £65,000 – £70,000 depending on experience
* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service
* Employer pension contribution starting at 5%, rising to 7%

* Hybrid working, up to 2 days from home (office days Wednesday and Friday)
