Job Description
The London Borough of Bexley is looking for a qualified, HCPC-registered Educational Psychologist to join its Early Intervention and Specialist Advice Service. This role plays a key part in helping the Local Authority meet its statutory duties around identifying, assessing and supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver psychological advice, consultation and support to schools, families and a range of professionals, with the aim of improving outcomes for children and young people across the borough.
Pay rates:
* PAYE – £430.69 per day
* Limited/Umbrella – £600.00 per day
Main Purpose
* Contribute to statutory SEN assessment processes
* Provide psychological advice and reports to inform EHCPs
* Support schools at SEN Support level through consultation and early intervention
* Deliver high-quality psychological services in line with legislation and service standards
* Promote inclusive practice and positive outcomes for children and young people
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery
* Provide psychological assessment, consultation and advice
* Prepare written reports and contribute to statutory assessments
* Offer guidance on developmental, learning and SEMH needs
* Monitor service delivery and manage workload reporting
* Support service development initiatives as required
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* HCPC registration (or eligibility for registration)
* Good honours degree in Psychology
* Postgraduate qualification (Masters or Doctorate) recognised by the BPS for Educational Psychology training
Essential Experience and Skills
* Experience working with children and young people, including those with SEN and SEMH
* Strong partnership working with education or public sector professionals
* Knowledge of current SEN legislation and Educational Psychology practice
* Excellent assessment, consultation and report-writing skills
* Ability to manage a varied and demanding workload
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
