To assist in the management and education of children and young people with additional support needs (ASN).
A Learning Support Worker may be asked to work with any child or group of children either within a department or within a mainstream class. They may work alongside and with specific guidance from any teacher within a school. Work around an individual child may be based on an individualised education programme, followed by all staff working with the child/young person, and may involve working with professionals and therapists such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Child Psychologists, etc.

About Mid Yell Junior High School
Mid Yell Junior High School is a non-denominational school in Mid Yell, Yell. It offers nursery, primary, and secondary education up to S4 for children from Central, Mid, and East Yell for Primary, and the whole island of Yell for Secondary. The school comprises 1 nursery class, 2 composite primary classes, and a class for each of S1-4, with approximately 90 pupils. * The pay rate includes Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4808 per hour.
* This is a temporary part-time post, 27.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, plus 6.24 weeks (pro rata) paid holiday during school holidays. Contract until 16 August 2026.
* Preferred candidates must join or update the PVG Scheme before employment.
