Job Overview
Due to the expansion of the Respiratory Department, we are seeking a further Consultant to join our friendly team.
The posts offer an £18,000 relocation package and up to £10,000 for research and professional development to be used in the first three years. Both posts are substantive 10 PA positions but flexible arrangements such as part‑time work or fixed term appointments can be discussed.
These roles are suitable for an established Consultant looking to relocate or a new Consultant wishing to establish themselves in a supportive department.
Benefits and Working Conditions
All 10 PA job plans include 2.5 SPA as standard for new Consultants and 1.5 SPA for existing Consultants, supporting professional development and quality improvement. Additional SPA for educational, research or leadership activities are agreed in annual job‑plan reviews. Non‑ward weeks allow a day off, and following a respiratory weekend on‑call (8 am–2 pm) there are two days off. A generous study leave budget and study leave allowance are also provided.
Responsibilities
• Permanent consultant post.
• Deliver comprehensive respiratory care across a 6‑bed Higher Care Unit/Acute Respiratory Unit, community clinics, and a range of subspecialty services including bronchoscopy, EBUS, pleural day‑case clinics, lung cancer, TB, cystic fibrosis, sleep medicine, ILD, respiratory failure and home ventilation.
Key Teams and Facilities
• Team of seven consultant chest physicians and an associate specialist.
• Collaborative support from specialist nurses, physiotherapists, a physiologist, and trainees.
• Department based at Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, with community clinic opportunities across the county and a developing integrated respiratory care team.
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration and a licence to practice.
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of interview date.
Experience
* Essential: Competency in the management of all aspects of Respiratory Medicine.
* Desirable: Management experience, Teaching experience.
