The role:
We’re excited to announce a new opportunity for an Operations Manager within our Rainwater Management team at United Utilities. This role, created as part of our AMP8 investment programme, will lead the delivery of key operations, maintenance, and benefits realisation initiatives.
What you’ll do:
* Oversee operations and maintenance of all adopted Rainwater Management interventions, including SuDS and Nature-Based Solutions.
* Deliver capital maintenance / operational programmes, managing surveys and monitoring to optimise performance and benefits.
* Provide operational guidance across all Rainwater Management projects and housing developments.
* Develop and embed best practice technical guidance for operations and maintenance.
* Establish processes to track and report the value of interventions to UU and communities.
* Act as the lead contact for installed interventions, working closely with Drainage Area teams.
* Manage stakeholder relationships, including the Environment Agency and local councils.
* Control maintenance budgets and resources, ensuring efficient delivery of planned activities.
* Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, health & safety, and performance standards, using CIRIA SuDS guidance.
What we’re looking for:
* Degree (technical or leadership) or equivalent experience.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing teams and performance.
* Proven ability to manage large, low-value/high-volume programmes and contracts.
* Analytical thinker with problem-solving and financial planning skills.
* Passionate about Rainwater Management and green/blue infrastructure.
* Knowledge of SuDS, NBS, drainage, flood risk, and the water industry.
* Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills.
* Innovative mindset with the ability to challenge and improve current practices.
